Cyclone Gabrielle: New Zealand Declares National State Of Emergency As Cyclone Leads To Widespread Damage

On February 14,Ā NewĀ ZealandĀ declared aĀ NationalĀ State ofĀ Emergency. This comes amid flooding, landslides andĀ widespreadĀ damageĀ caused due toĀ CycloneĀ Gabrielle. TheĀ NationalĀ State ofĀ EmergencyĀ will apply to Northland, Auckland, Tairawhiti, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Hawkes Bay, as per theĀ NewĀ ZealandĀ Government press release. These six places have already declared a local State ofĀ Emergency. This is only the third time inĀ NewĀ Zealand's history that aĀ NationalĀ State ofĀ EmergencyĀ has been declared, reported ANI.
