Cyclone Mandous: Cyclonic Storm Nears Tamil Nadu Coast; Chennai Civic Body Shuts Parks, Playgrounds

Cyclone Mandous is likely to cross near the Chennai coast on December 9 midnight. Heavy rains are expected in Tamil Nadu. Schools and colleges will remain shut on December 9 in 12 districts, including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Ranipettai and Kancheepuram. The Chennai civic body has ordered that all parks and playgrounds be shut till further notice. People have been advised to stay away from beaches and not to park their cars under trees.
