On November 23, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit a town in northwest Turkey, the government-run Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency said. The earthquake was centred in the town of Golkaya, in Duzce province, nearly 200 km east of Istanbul. Faruk Ozlu, Duzce’s mayor, told private NTV television that the earthquake made people rush out of their buildings and also led to power cuts in the area. As reported by BBC, 22 people have been left injured. In 1999, Duzce was hit by a 7.2 magnitude quake which left nearly 845 people dead. Watch the video to know more.
