Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced free travel for women on Delhi metro and buses. Kejriwal said the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi Transport Corporation (TSC) have been asked to make a detailed proposal to ensure free rides for women in Delhi Metro and DTC buses. He also said that the subsidy provided will be voluntary. Those women who can afford the tickets can pay for the same. Kejriwal also announced that over 2 lakh CCTV cameras will be installed across Delhi to make the national capital safer for women. These announcements come ahead of the Assembly elections to be held in the national capital. Aam Aadmi Party was wiped out in all the seven Lok Sabha seats in the recently held national elections.
