On January 24, a student openedĀ fire in a lecture hallĀ at the Heidelberg University in Germany. The 18-year-old student killed a young woman and injured three others before he left the spot and killed himself. The tragedy took place during an organic chemistry class for bioscience students. Bernhard Eitel, university president, told reporters that the gunman was himself enrolled for the course. When the police reached the spot, the gunmanās body was lying outside the building.
