The counting for the bitterly-fought Hyderabad civic body polls is currently underway. K Chandrashekhar Rao's TRS is leading in 64 seats while AIMIM is leading in 34 and BJP in 31. Congress has managed a lead in three seats. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls reported an unimpressive 46.55 per cent voter turnout on December 1 with 34.50 lakh people voting from a total of 74.67 lakh voters. The high-pitched & polarising campaigns by most parties seemed to focus more on Pakistan & Mohammad Ali Jinnah & whether Hyderabad wants its name changed to Bhagyanaga than sanitation, roads & water supply. The results are likely to be known only in the evening or in the night since the elections used ballot papers.
