India-Maldives Row: Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu Urges China To Send More Tourists As Indians Cancel Reservations

On January 9, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu appealed to China to intensify efforts to send more tourists to Maldives. This comes after cancellation of reservations by Indian tourists. A diplomatic row erupted over the derogatory remarks by Maldives ministers against PM Narendra Modi. Muizzu urged China to send more tourists to the Maldives. Muizzu’s request to China comes amid a diplomatic row with India following derogatory remarks by Maldives ministers against PM Modi. The Indian prime minister had posted videos and pictures from his recent visit to Lakshadweep. Muizzu's government suspended three deputy ministers for the comments against PM Modi.
