Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by one run in a nail-biting Indian Premier League 2025 match at the Eden Gardens on May 4. Batting first, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and captain Ajinkya Rahane provided a good start after they lost opener Sunil Narine for 11 runs. Ajinkya Rahane and Rahmanullah Gurbaz shared a 56-run stand for the second wicket. Rajasthan Royals made a slight comeback after dismissing these two batters in quick time. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi and hard-hitter Andre Russell continued from where Ajinkya Rahane and Rahmanullah Gurbaz left. Angkrish Raghuvanshi departed after scoring 44 off 31 deliveries. He stitched a crucial 61-run partnership with Andre Russell that set a perfect platform for KKR. Andre Russell went bonkers in the last few overs and slammed an unbeaten 57 off 25 deliveries as Kolkata posted a monstrous 206-4. Jofra Archer (1/30), Yudhvir Singh (1/26), Maheesh Theekshana (1/41), and captain Riyan Parag (1/21) took wickets for RR. In response, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (34 off 21 balls) played a fighting knock. Skipper Riyan Parag played a stupendous knock of 95 off 45 deliveries, but his knock went in vain as the visitors suffered a heartbreaking one-run defeat. Moeen Ali (2/43), Harshit Rana (2/41) and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/32) were the best bowlers for the hosts.
