On June 10, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray warned the people of the state about a possible rollback of relaxations if social distancing rules are not followed strictly. This comes after reports of crowding while boarding buses in the state. Maharashtra, which is grappling with the worst outbreak of the virus in the country, has allowed government offices to open with 15 per cent strength & private offices with 10 per cent staff. The Shiv-Sena led government extended the coronavirus lockdown till June 30 with some relaxations in non-containment zone areas. On June 10, Thackeray reiterated his demand of resumption of local trains for those involved in providing essential services. CM Thackeray had first raised the issue of the resumption of suburban rail services with PM Narendra Modi during a video conference about a month ago. On June 10, Maharashtra reported 3,254 coronavirus cases and 149 deaths. The state with 94,041 cases and 3438 deaths, has surpassed China. The recovery rate in the state is at 47.34% while the death rate is at 3.65%. Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, now has a total of 52,667 cases. The number of cases in India has reached 2,86,579 with 8,102 deaths.
