Maharashtra Unlock Plan For Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai: What’s Allowed, What’s Not

The Maharashtra government on June 4 announced five levels of restrictions across administrative units in the state based on case positivity & percentage of oxygen bed occupancy. In each of the levels, different types of activities have been permitted. The restrictions will be eased from June 7, 2021. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Chief Iqbal Singh Chahal  informed that Mumbai shall fall under level 3. As per the state government order, districts with a positivity rate between 5 & 10 per cent, or bed occupancy of over 40 per cent will follow level 3 restrictions. In level 3, stores will only be open till 4 pm and malls & theatres will remain closed. Restaurants will only be allowed 50 per cent capacity till 4 pm on weekdays. Public places for outdoor activities will only be open from 5 am to 9 am. Local trains have been restricted- for Medical use & few essentials. Meanwhile, the state issued a fresh notification for Navi Mumbai & Thane's unlocking process. A notification issued on June 6 put Thane & Navi Mumbai civic areas in category 2 of Maharashtra government's five-level plan. Cities and districts falling under level 2 category have case positivity rate of five per cent & oxygen bed occupancy at 25 to 40 per cent.The notification, issued by Thane district collector Rajesh Narvekar, placed Kalyan Dombivali municipal limits in category 3.
