On December 3, the Lok Sabha witnessed one of the longest debates in its winter session in recent times. Parliamentarians sat till past midnight to speak about Covid-19 situation amid rising concerns over the spread of the Omicron variant. Nearly 74 members took part in the debate that lasted for about 11 hours. Mahua Moitra, Trinamool Congress MP, known for her fierce speeches, quoted Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan’s iconic “The times they are a-changin'” during her speech. Moitra did so to take a dig at the Centre’s Covid-19 management. She said when the government should have ordered vaccines, they told people to light diyas.
