Meghalaya Shock For Congress: 12 Of 17 MLAs Including Mukul Sangma Join Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool

Mukul Sangma, former Meghalaya Chief Minister and 11 of the 17 Congress MLAs in the state have joined Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. Congress leaders Kirti Azad and Ashok Tanwar have also joined the TMC. Expelled Janata Dal (United) leader Pavan Varma also joined the TMC in the presence of party chief Mamata Banerjee. Meghalaya is the latest state where the TMC wants to expand. In Goa, Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh & Haryana, TMC’s expansion has been at the cost of the Congress. Mamata Banerjee was in Delhi recently, but she did not meet Sonia Gandhi. Earlier, Congress leaders who joined the TMC included Sushmita Dev, daughter of late Congress leader Santosh Mohan Dev and late President Pranab Mukherjee's son Abhijit Mukherjee.
