INDIA Team Latestly|

The four men convicted for raping and killing Nirbhaya, will not be hanged on March 3 as scheduled. A judge in Delhi deferred their execution for the third time. Nirbhaya, the 23-year-old medical student was brutally gangraped and murdered in 2012. On March 2, 2020, the judge ruled that the mercy petition of one of the convicts, Pawan Gupta is pending with President Ram Nath Kovind and therefore they have not exhausted all their legal options. Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother said, “Our entire system supports criminals.” For many weeks now, the convicts Akshay Thakur, 31, Pawan Gupta, 25, Vinay Sharma, 26, and Mukesh Singh, 32 have been filing petitions challenging their death sentence.
