North East Floods: At Least 62 Dead In Floods In Assam, Meghalaya

Assam has been battered by severe floods and landslides. At least eight people lost their lives on June 19 as rains created havoc in the state. The total deaths have gone up to 62. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “I pray for the safety and well-being of the people of Assam affected by flooding.” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma replied to PM Modi saying, “Very kind of you to have called to take an update on the relief and rehabilitation work in flood affected areas of Assam.” On June 18, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited several relief camps sheltering affected people.
