Paing Takhon, One of Myanmar's Biggest Celebrities Jailed for Participating In Anti-Coup Protest

One of Myanmar’s most known faces, model-turned actor Paing Takhon has been sentenced to three years jail with hard labour for participating in pro-democracy protests after the military junta orchestrated a coup earlier this year. Takhon was arrested in April from Yangon. The actor had participated in protests and also posted messages in support of jailed leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The news of Takhon’s incarceration comes as he was named as the ‘Most Handsome Face of 2021’ by TC Candler, an entertainment site that has released a ‘Most Beautiful Face’ list annually since 1990.
