PM Modi Says India To Get Chief Of Defence Staff (CDS): Understanding The Post of Tri-Service Chief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced during his Independence Day speech that his government was bringing in the position of a Chief of Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces. He said this position was needed to enhance India’s security structure and ensure better co-ordination between the various arms of the executive and armed forces.
