The video of Tabrez Ansari being made to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ while being caned, showed a new level of brutality prevalent in mobs across India. Tabrez soon died of his injuries and 11 people were arrested for his death. But in the chargesheet filed by Jharkhand police, the accused have not been charged with murder under Section IPC 302 and in fact have been charged with culpable homicide.
