The third wave of Covid-19 pandemic has seen cases surge across India. Tamil Nadu reported a big jump in case numbers – 4,862 on Wednesday with four deaths. The positivity rate is higher than the national average at 7.3%. In light of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the DMK state government has announced a night curfew starting January 6 as well as a complete lockdown on all Sundays across the state.
