UK-India Vaccine Certificate Recognition Row: Covishield Recognised But Indians To Quarantine On Arrival

INDIA Team Latestly|

Amid an escalating row over UK enforcing strict quarantine rules for Indians fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with Covishield, British officials on September 22 suggested that the main issue is Covid-19 vaccine certification & not the Covishield vaccine. The UK said that both sides are moving at "great speed" to resolve the matter. After a backlash over UK's refusal to recognise Covishield, London amended its new guidelines to include the Indian-made version of the AstraZeneca vaccine in its updated international travel advisory. However, Indians who have been fully vaccinated with Covishield will still have to quarantine for 10 days & take two RT-PCR tests in the United Kingdom notwithstanding the amendment. British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, has clarified that the Serum Institute of India-made vaccine "is not the issue", reported NDTV. India had on September 21 warned of "reciprocal action" against the "discriminatory nature of UK vaccine recognition.” Watch the video to know more.
