US Presidential Election 2020 Results: Donald Trump Claims Victory, Says He Is Going To Court; Joe Biden Urges Democrats To Stay The Course

WORLD Team Latestly|

US President Donald Trump claimed on November 4 that he had won the US election. Trump accused rival Joe Biden's Democrats of "fraud", declared that he would go to the Supreme Court to dispute the counting of votes. "We were just about to win, in fact, we have already won," Trump said in an extraordinary speech from the White House at 2.30 am. “So, we are going to go to the US Supreme Court and ensure that suddenly new ballots are not mysteriously found at 4 am and added to their tally. Quite frankly this is a shame to America and to the millions of Americans," he said. Meanwhile, Democrat Joe Biden claimed he was winning America's knife-edge election. Appearing before supporters in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, after midnight, Biden said "we believe we're on track to win this election.” "Keep the faith, guys, we're going to win this." But Biden, 77, warned that because of the unprecedented use of mail-in voting during the coronavirus pandemic getting final results would "take a while”. Seconds later, Trump tweeted his rebuttal, saying: "We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election”. Dramatic clash, which stoked fears of electoral chaos, came after early results showed Trump & Biden largely retaining states already in their column, but without delivering the kind of knock-out blow that could decide the final score fast.
