World Chimpanzee Day is celebrated every year on July 14. The date was chosen to honour the animal and also Jane Goodall, the primatologist who first stepped foot in the now Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania, to study wild chimpanzees in 1960 on July 14. Chimps are humankind's closest living relative from the animal kingdom.
