World Day Against Child Labour 2020: Date, Significance & The Need To Abolish This Practice

Festivals & Events Team Latestly|

World Day Against Child Labour is observed to condemn the widespread practice of employing children in adult work and is celebrated on June 12 every year. The fact that millions of kids are forced to enter the workforce or are employed by their parents, in fields and factories, instead of getting access to proper education and a much-deserved childhood is the reason that makes this observance crucial. The day brings together governments, local authorities, workers and various organisations to highlight the issue of child labour and find ways to help labourers. Children between the age group of 5 to 17 are typically part of child labour. They are forced to work in a difficult environment, stealing them of their childhood and basic education. While child labour is a crime in most countries, it is a widespread practice in low-income countries. The observance of this day tries to highlight this human right violation, create awareness and work with governments and NGOs to stop children from working and direct them to schools.
