World Wildlife Day is celebrated annually on March 3. It is celebrated with an aim to analyse/spread awareness about the "forest-based livelihoodsā. It also promotes forest wildlife management models & practices that accommodate both human well-being & the long-term conservation of forests. In its proposal, the General Assembly reaffirmed the intrinsicĀ value of wildlife and its various contributions. It includesĀ ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aesthetic, to sustainable development & human welfare. General Assembly named March 3 as World Wildlife Day to raise awareness about the world's wildlife and flora and recognised the importantĀ role of CITES in ensuring that its international trade does not threaten the survival of the species. Theme for this year is: āForests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planetā.
