Sydney, May 18: After weeks of tense election campaigning, the moment of truth has arrived, With results in the federal election will start being counted at 6 pm (eastern standard time). The Exit poll predicts a decisive win for centre-left Labor Party. According to Channel Nine-Galaxy exit poll, the survey on 33 electorates across six states predicts labour party to gain 52 per cent to the Coalition's 48 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.

The opinion polls such as Ipsos, Newspoll and Essential also showed victory to Labor. In Victoria, where the Liberal Party (LP) is at risk of losing around six seats, the Coalition vote has collapsed. The poll found Labor's primary vote at 41 per cent, a 5.4 per cent higher than 2016 election, with the Coalition's combined primary down by 4.8 per cent compared to previous elections. Polls Open in Climate-dominated Aussie Election.

Senior Labor Party leader Chris Bowen said the exit poll was "encouraging". "But polls haven't closed yet and I do think we're in for a long night, with pre-poll votes. And some sets aren't even counting pre-polls," he told the Seven Network.
