Delhi, September 10: India's two most popular cities- Delhi and Mumbai- have been featured on the global weed consumption list. According to ‘ABCD 2018 Cannabis Price Index’ report, Delhi has been ranked third while the 'maximum city' Mumbai is placed on the sixth position in terms of cannabis consumption. The list was topped by New York while Karachi ranked second, The Times of India reported. Cannabis Laws Across World: List of Countries That Legalised Marijuana in 2018.

According to a report, Delhiites consumed 38.8 tonnes of weed while Mumbaikars were not far behind as the city consumed 32.4 tonnes in 2018. Earlier, a study by the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) revealed that 3.1 crore people in India are addicted to cannabis, which is popularly known as ganja, charas, and bhang.

The study was done by German firm ABCD, the media campaign outlet that seeks to legalise cannabis. The US city of New York topped the chart with 77.4 tonnes of cannabis consumption last year. Pakistan's Karachi has been placed in the second position with 42 tonnes of weed consumption.

The others in the list are Los Angeles, Cairo, London, Chicago, Moscow, and Toronto. The consumption of cannabis is not legalised in these cities, with the exception of Toronto, which legalised weed earlier this year. The study also listed prices of weed across the cities. The report termed that Mumbai (Rs 329 per gram) and Delhi (Rs 315 per gram) were the cheapest to buy the drug.
