What Is Margarita Reut's Background?

Reut was reportedly born in Yaroslavl and previously lived in Sochi. She also frequently travelled to Crimea, according to reports cited by The Telegraph.

Reports have claimed that Reut appeared on escort websites and had worked as a biologist involved in producing floral-infused vaginal suppositories.

She was reportedly detained in July 2025 after allegedly making a pro-Ukrainian remark on a train following a Ukrainian drone attack. She was held for two days and fined for allegedly 'discrediting' the Russian military.

If convicted in the latest case, Reut could reportedly face up to 30 years in prison.

Who Was Robert Shageev?

Robert Shageev was a Ukrainian naval officer who defected to Russia following the 2014 annexation of Crimea. At the time, he was serving as acting commander of the Ukrainian submarine Zaporizhzhia, described as Ukraine's only submarine.

After defecting, Shageev joined the Russian military and later served as an officer in the Kremlin's Black Sea Fleet. Ukrainian authorities had reportedly accused him of high treason over his defection.
