Pyongyang, Aug 13: North and South Korea on Monday announced to hold their third summit in Pyongyang sometime before the end of September, reported Associated Press. The time and venue of the summit were finalised after high-level talks between North Korea and South Korea. South Korean President Moon Jae-in is expected to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un again at the summit.

The high-level talks to decide time and venue of the third summit was held in Tongilgak in the border village of Panmunjom 'to bolster the implementation of the Panmunjom Declaration', according to the joint press corps report. Moon and Kim met in Panmunjom on April 27 for the first time, agreeing to hold another summit in Pyongyang in the fall. They met again on May 26.

In April, Moon and Kim signed the Panmunjom Declaration under which the two Koreas promised to work towards complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, halt hostile acts against each other and bolster cross-border exchanges. They also pledged to meet in Pyongyang later this year.

The Moon-Kim summit in April was historical as it broke a long spell of hostility between the two sides after the last summit in 2007 in Pyongyang.
