A 27-year-old man was sentenced on Thursday, June 24, to two years and eight months in prison and ordered to receive two strokes of the cane for distributing intimate images of his teenage ex-girlfriend in a massive online p*rnography group. The culprit, Abdul Marzuq Waliyuddin Abdul Majid, impersonated the victim and shared the non-consensual media in a chat group specifically dedicated to obscene images of women in religious attire. The illicit network, which had nearly 80,000 members, was ultimately shut down after the victim launched her own undercover investigation to expose him.

Retaliation and Online Impersonation

According to court documents, Abdul met the victim in 2016 while both were attending a religious school. After she ended their relationship due to his possessive behaviour, Abdul falsely claimed he had deleted the intimate photos and videos they had exchanged as minors. In April 2021, Abdul contacted the victim during Ramadan to seek forgiveness and attempt to rekindle the relationship. When she blocked him, Abdul retaliated by renaming a p*rnography platform account to match her full name. Singapore Man With ‘Uncontrolled S*xual Habits’ Gets Reformative Training for Raping 2 Minor Girls He Met on Omegle.

Over a five-week period, Abdul posted explicit snippets of the victim alongside recent photos harvested from her Facebook page. Targeting the group's predominantly Singaporean and Malaysian Malay membership, he captioned the posts with demeaning labels, such as "SG Madrasah Babe", and engaged in rape fantasies regarding the victim with other users.

The Victim's Undercover Investigation

The victim discovered the breach in May 2021 after a stranger tracked her down on Instagram to s*xually solicit her, providing a link to the closed group. Despite severe emotional distress, the victim created a fictitious account to infiltrate the group herself. Inside, she documented the explicit posts, traced them directly to Abdul's account, and noticed the group was also sharing non-obscene images of female religious leaders. After alerting one of the religious leaders, she filed a formal report with the Singapore Police Force. The victim's evidence allowed authorities to compel the platform to dismantle the group, which had grown to 79,348 members. Upon realising the group had been exposed, Abdul panicked, deleted his account and cloud backups, and was arrested the following day.

Severe Psychological and Familial Impact

The prosecution detailed the devastating, long-term impact the offence has had on the victim, who did not seek therapy due to financial constraints. The court heard that the victim attempted to end her life but was interrupted out of time by her sister. The circulation of the media, which acquaintances continued to flag as recently as June 2025, resulted in her becoming entirely estranged from her deeply religious mother. Furthermore, she abandoned her career aspirations of becoming a religious teacher out of fear of professional exposure and has been unable to enter a romantic relationship for five years due to severe trust issues. Byju’s Founder Byju Raveendran Gets Relief As Singapore High Court Stays 6-Month Jail Sentence.

Court Ruling and Sentencing

In court, Deputy Public Prosecutor Chong Kee En argued for a harsh sentence, labelling the offence an egregious case of revenge p*rn targeting a minor. Conversely, defence attorney Sean Marican sought a lighter 12-month sentence without caning, arguing Abdul acted "opportunistically" on impulse. Principal District Judge Toh Han Li rejected the defence's characterisation, noting a high degree of planning, preparation, and premeditation. Abdul was also found to have violated his station bail conditions by attempting to contact the victim via an anonymous Telegram account in September 2023.

"The accused was out to exact revenge on the victim and to harm and humiliate her by depicting her with her face and full name as a promiscuous person in religious garb," Judge Toh said. In addition to the prison time and caning, Abdul was ordered to pay S4,000(US3,084) in financial compensation to the victim.
