Three young boys who entered deep into the Hindon river waters drowned while a fourth was saved by relatives, police said here today.
Ghaziabad, May 16 (PTI) Three young boys who entered deep into the Hindon river waters drowned while a fourth was saved by relatives, police said here today.
SP city Akash Tomar said that Sonam, 4, granddaughter of Iliyas, died due to complications resulting from chicken pox following which family members went for her burial at a place near the river yesterday.
While the other members of the family were busy in the funeral ceremony, Hrithik (10), Saleem (16), Aleem(11) and Dilshad (9) entered the Hindon waters, the official said.
Before the relatives could realise, Hrithik, Saleem, Aleem had drowned while Dilshad was fished out, he added.
On getting information police summoned an NDRF team, which yesterday evening fished out the bodies of Saleem and Aleem.
In the night hours, the NDRF called off the operation. Today morning, the team again started its search operation along the 5 km long stretch but the body of Hrithik could not be traced till late evening, NDRF Public Relations Officer Vasant Pavade added. PTI CORR
