Amidst Trump's Order to Launch Strikes, Syria Witnesses Explosion

Washington D.C. [USA], April 14 (ANI): Loud explosions followed by heavy smoke were reported in the Syrian capital Damascus on Friday.

This comes after United States President Donald Trump ordered strikes on the Syrian regime in response to a chemical weapon attack last weekend in coordination with France and the United Kingdom.

"I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapon capabilities of Syrian dictator of Bashar al-Assad," Trump said from the White House Diplomatic Room as quoted by The New York Times.

The recent remark by Trump could raise confrontation with Russia and Iran both of whom supports Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.

Earlier in April 2017 United States had fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase that was back in use a day later. Post that the latest strikes by the US would be its second attempt to punish the Syrian government for the use of the chemical weapons.

However, Germany refused to take part in the coordinated military action in Syria though German Chancellor Angela Merkel called the use of the chemical weapons as "unacceptable".

Earlier in April, a chemical attack took place in Syria that took the lives of more than 50 civilians including the minors.

Earlier today China called upon the United Nations Security Council to prevent any further incidents alike to the Syrian chemical attacks. (ANI)
