Nainital, Sep 7 (PTI) The Uttarakhand High Court warned Friday it will take disciplinary action against the top Dehradun municipal official if garbage, particularly around schools and hospital in the city, is not cleared within two days.

The division bench of Acting Chief Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari asked authorities to clear the garbage, particularly that around schools and hospitals, within 24 hours.

It warned of disciplinary action if this is not done within 48 hours.

The court was acting on a PIL filed by a Dehradun resident, complaining that garbage littered the entire Uttarakhand capital.

The court said the city authorities should remove garbage in the morning as well as in the evening.

It said the district magistrate and the municipal corporation commissioner will be held responsible for any garbage piling on streets.
