Kohima, Nov 8 (PTI) Nagaland on Sunday reported more COVID-19 recoveries than detection of fresh cases, as 101 patients were cured of the disease while 49 new infections pushed the state's tally to 9,474, a health department official said.

The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state increased to an all time high of 88.13 per cent as a total of 8,350 people have recovered from the disease till Sunday. The previous highest recovery rate was 87.86 per cent on Friday, the official.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state increased to 49 as one more person succumbed to the disease in Tuensang district, he said.

"19 positive cases of COVID-19 detected today Kohima 12, Mon 3, Dimapur 2, and one each in Mokokchung and Tuensang districts. Also, 101 positive patients have recovered Dimapur 55, Kohima 25, Mon 19 and one each in Mokokchung Peren and districts," Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted.

The state now has 985 active COVID-19 patients, said Director of Health Department, Dr Denis Hangsing in the daily COVID-19 bulletin.

Altogether 90 patients have migrated to other states, he said.

Of the 9,474 confirmed cases, 4,074 are armed forces or security personnel, 3,262 traced contacts, 1,676 returnees from other states and 462 frontline workers, he said.

The district-wise active COVID-19 cases are Dimapur (628), Kohima (227), Mon (88), Mokokchung (16), Tuensang (13), Peren (5), Kiphire (4), Zunheboto (2), Wokha (1) and Phek (1).

So far, a total of 1,01,801 samples have been tested in Nagaland for COVID-19 of which 63,098 samples have been tested through RT-PCR, 34,268 on TruNat and 4,435 on Rapid Antigen Test, said Dr Hangsing.
