Bijapur (Chhattisgarh) [India], October 17 (ANI): A Naxalite was killed on Tuesday morning following an encounter with security forces in Bijapur's Bandepara, an official statement said.

Police said that one AK-47 rifle was also recovered from the spot.

"During a search, there was an encounter between police and Maoists in the forest of Bandepara on the morning of October 17. One Naxal was killed in the encounter between security forces and naxals in the forest of Bandepara," Inspector-General of Police Bastar P Sundarraj said.

According to police, a further search operation is underway.

Earlier last month, two women Naxalites were killed in an exchange of fire with District Reserve Guards (DRG) in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada on September 20.

During the search of the area, the bodies of two women naxal cadres along with one INSAS Rifle and one 12-bore rifle were recovered from the spot. (ANI)
