Mumbai, Sep 11 (PTI) A private bus collided with a car in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district Tuesday, leaving six residents of Mumbai headed to their native place in Konkan for Ganesh festival dead and four others injured, the police said.
All the deceased, who were related to each other, were occupants of the car, a police official said.
The deceased also including a six-month-old girl.
A total of nine people from Mumbai were travelling to their native place in Sindhudurg district in the car when the incident occurred at Waked village in Lanja taluka, around 360 kms from here, at around 11:30 AM, the police said.
The accident occurred when the driver of the bus, which was headed towards Mumbai, lost control over the vehicle and collided with the car.
While five occupants of the car died on the spot, another died in a state-run hospital in Kolhapur district in Western Maharashtra, the official said.
The injured included the driver and the cleaner of the bus, he said, adding that they are undergoing treatment in Kolhapur.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
