Kolkata, Nov 4 (PTI) In continuing raids in the run-up to Kali Puja and Diwali, around 125 kg of crackers were recovered from two different parts in Baguihati and New Town areas of the city on Sunday, police said.
Bidhanagar Police Commissionerate sources said 50 kg of crackers, worth over Rs 40,000, were seized from a house at Hanapara area in Baguihati.
The huge stock of fireworks were found in a godown of the house following a tip-off, the sources said, adding, no arrests have been made in this regard so far.
In another raid, banned firecrackers, weighing 75 kg, were seized from Edenshop area in New Town, as part of a special drive, they said.
Meanwhile, as part of a recent notification, banning sky lanterns and laser lights in the vicinity of N S C Bose International Airport, police were conducting raids in eight areas under Bidhannagar and Barrackpore Police Commissionerate limits.
Around 1,400 sky lanterns were recovered from a house at Ashwininagar in Baguiati recently, the sources added. PTI
