Palghar, Mar 24 (PTI) RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat Sunday held a meeting of Sangh swayamsevaks (volunteers) at Virar in Palghar district of Maharashtra.

However, what transpired at the meeting, which lasted for around three hours, could not be known.

The name of the contestant for Palghar Lok Sabha constituency, which is allotted to the Shiv Sena as part of a seat-sharing deal with the BJP, is yet to be announced.

The tribal-dominated constituency was won by BJP's Chintaman Vanaga in 2014 general elections.

The BJP retained the seat in a bypoll held in 2018, following the death of Vanaga.

In that byelection, BJP's Rajendra Gavit had defeated Srinivas Vanaga, son of the late MP, who contested from Shiv Sena.

The Sena and the BJP have patched up since then, and sealed a pact to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in alliance.
