Mumbai, Dec 12 (PTI) Maharashtra minister Vinod Tawde Wednesday handed over the condolence motions adopted by the state cabinet and the legislature, mourning the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to the adopted daughter of the late leader in New Delhi.
A statement issued by Tawde said the condolence motion of the state cabinet and the one passed by the legislature along with the copies of the speeches made by leaders of different political parties were personally delivered to Vajpayee's adopted daughter Namita Bhattacharya and her husband Rajan Bhattacharya.
Normally condolence motion copies are delivered to the families by post.
On the occasion, Namita Bhattacharya recalled Vajpayee's close association with Mumbai, where he used to watch Marathi plays at Shivaji Mandir, and also his friendship with Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and composer Sudhir Phadke.
