Joint Base Andrews (US), Aug 2 (AP) A plane believed to be carrying three Americans freed in a prisoner swap with Russia after years in captivity has landed at a US air base.

The jet touched down shortly before midnight at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington. President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and relatives of the former prisoners waited to greet them.

The Americans landed nearly 12 hours after leaving Turkey, where they were among 24 exchanged in the largest post-Soviet prisoner swap. They were shown smiling on board the jet in a photo released by the White House. (AP)
