French automotive manufacturer Renault is expanding its utility vehicle lineup with the upcoming introduction of the Renault Bigster in the Indian market. Slated for a formal release in early 2027, the production-spec, three-row midsize SUV will join the brand's localized portfolio alongside the Duster and the upcoming Bridger compact SUV.

Built on the localized Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP)—an adapted version of the CMF-B architecture—the Bigster is engineered specifically to cater to 6- and 7-seater family buyers. As reported by CarLelo, the model will enter the market to directly challenge established three-row competitors such as the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and Mahindra XUV 7XO. Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG Price, Specifications and Features Revealed; Launched in India.

Exterior Dimensions and Design Styling

Measuring approximately 4.6 metres in length, the Bigster serves as a larger, more spacious three-row derivative of the Duster. It features a 2,700mm wheelbase that accommodates both 6-seater configurations with second-row captain's chairs and 7-seater layouts with traditional bench seating.

The exterior styling retains signature design elements, including Y-shaped LED lighting signatures, flat bonnet lines, squared-off wheel arches, prominent roof rails, and a robust front skid plate. With a ground clearance of 210mm, the vehicle is well-equipped to handle varied road conditions across the country.

Powertrain Options: Strong Hybrid and Turbo-Petrol

Moving away from diesel powertrains, Renault is implementing a multi-engine strategy focused on high-efficiency hybrid and performance turbo-petrol systems. The lineup features a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder strong hybrid setup paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack, delivering a combined output of 160 hp and 172 Nm through a multi-mode clutchless automatic gearbox.

Additionally, a 1.3-litre HR13 turbocharged petrol engine will be available, producing 160 bhp and 270 Nm of peak torque, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT transmission.

Cabin Amenities and Safety Technology

Inside the cabin, the SUV is equipped with a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Passenger comfort in the rear rows is enhanced with dedicated AC vents, individual USB-C charging ports, and recline-adjustable backrests. Premium amenities include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and wireless smartphone charging. Honda 0 Alpha Electric SUV India Debut Confirmed for December 2, 2026.

Safety provisions are comprehensive, featuring six standard airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Descent Control, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite.
