Tata Motors has announced the launch of the refreshed Punch EV on February 20, 2026. Mumbai, February 6: Tata Motors is set to launch the facelifted version of the Punch EV on February 20, as the company seeks to reinforce its dominance in the domestic electric vehicle (EV) market. The announcement was made by Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, during the company’s third-quarter results briefing.
The launch comes at a time when the Indian EV sector is seeing intensified competition, with nearly 75% of market growth currently driven by new model introductions. Tata Motors, which saw its market share dip to approximately 36% at its lowest point, has successfully recovered to hold 46% of the segment. Strategic Pricing and Portfolio Expansion
The company is maintaining a broad pricing strategy, offering electric models ranging from approximately INR 800,000 to nearly INR 3,000,000. This wide price band is intended to protect sales volumes and ensure resilience across different demand cycles. Chandra emphasised that continuous upgrades to vehicle range and pricing parity are essential for staying competitive.
Beyond the Punch EV, Tata Motors is preparing for a significant product offensive, including the highly anticipated Sierra EV. While official launch timelines are being tied to production readiness, early interest in the Sierra suggests strong demand, with potential bookings reaching six-digit figures.
Addressing Supply Chain and Infrastructure Constraints
To support its aggressive launch schedule, the company is focused on scaling up its supply chain. Current production for models like the Sierra and Nexon is facing constraints related to powertrain castings. Tata Motors is currently working with suppliers to debottleneck manufacturing processes at its shared production facilities to meet rising consumer demand.
