Adidas Layoffs: Over 350 Employees Impacted As Gurgaon Tech Hub Cuts Nearly Half Its Workforce

Sportswear giant Adidas has initiated substantial layoffs at its India Tech Hub in Gurgaon, impacting an estimated 350 or more employees. The workforce reduction affects nearly half of the hub's approximately 700 personnel, including software engineers, data scientists, and data engineers. The staff reductions were communicated during an internal town hall meeting held on September 15.

Phased Exit and Transition Timeline

According to a report by Wocult, the impacted personnel have been divided into two groups:

• Immediate Exits: One group received their exit documentation on September 15.
• Transition Period: A second group has been asked to remain until December 15 to facilitate work handovers to other technology hubs and seek alternate internal positions. Staff in this group who fail to secure another role by December 15 will face termination.

Specific details regarding severance packages, notice pay, or transition support remain unconfirmed.

In an official statement addressing the restructuring, Adidas cited the necessity of adapting its operational framework to market demands. "As part of our ongoing efforts to align our operating model with the evolving needs of the business, we have made the difficult decision to reduce a number of roles within our Technology organization in India," the company stated.
