The incident came to light on the night of July 24, 2026, when Kulhari, 41, was at a Cinepolis multiplex near Fun Republic Mall in Andheri West, Mumbai. She received an alarming alert on her mobile phone about a foreign transaction.
Kirti Kulhari Falls Victim to Credit Card Scam
According to reports, the initial notification detailed a transaction of USD 2,525 made on Aeromexico Airlines using her credit card. Shocked by the unexpected alert, as she had not authorized any such payment, Kulhari promptly contacted her bank's customer care helpline.
Upon investigation, bank officials confirmed that this was not an isolated incident. A total of four separate high-value international transactions had been processed using her credit card without her knowledge or consent, amounting to INR 2,43,852. The bank immediately blocked her card to prevent any further misuse.
Kulhari, a resident of Versova and known for her work in films like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Mission Mangal, and web series such as Four More Shots Please! and Criminal Justice, wasted no time in filing a complaint with the Amboli Police Station. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against unidentified individuals.
In her statement to the police, Kulhari clarified that she had never shared her credit card password, PIN, or any confidential banking details with anyone. Investigators now suspect that her phone or credit card information may have been compromised through advanced digital means, possibly involving malware or spyware.

This incident underscores the alarming rise in cybercrime, with online financial frauds increasingly targeting individuals, including public figures. The Mumbai Police Cyber Cell has taken over the investigation, actively tracing the culprits through bank reference numbers, transaction records, and other digital footprints.
