As Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar continues to shatter box-office records, one notable person has yet to join the millions who have seen it: the lead actor’s own brother. Rahul Khanna recently revealed that he has not yet watched the film, which features Akshaye Khanna in a career-defining role as the antagonist Rehman Dakait. Despite the movie’s global success and viral popularity, Rahul explained that his delay is a matter of personal preference rather than a lack of interest. ‘Dhurandhar’ Movie Review: Ranveer Singh Explodes in Spurts in Aditya Dhar’s Exhaustingly Violent and Politically Questionable Thriller (LatestLY Exclusive).

Rahul Khanna Reveals Why He Hasn’t Watched Brother Akshaye Khanna’s ‘Dhurandhar’

In a recent interaction with Mid-Day, Rahul Khanna shared that he is intentionally waiting to watch the film privately with Akshaye. The actor noted that he prefers to experience his brother’s work through a personal lens rather than catching a public screening.

"I haven’t seen the movie yet; I’m waiting for him([Akshaye) to show it to me," Rahul said. He dismissed any rumours of a rift, adding with a smile, "Anything he wears looks great; I’m sure he looks fantastic."

The ‘Dhurandhar’ Phenomenon

Dhurandhar, which stars Ranveer Singh alongside an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan, has become a cultural juggernaut since its release on December 5, 2025. Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of the Lyari-based crime lord Rehman Dakait has particularly resonated with fans, with many comparing his "aura" and improvised dance sequences to the legendary screen presence of his late father, Vinod Khanna.

As of early January 2026, Dhurandhar has crossed the INR 1,200 crore mark at the global box office. It currently stands as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time, recently surpassing the lifetime collections of major blockbusters like Jawan and Pathaan.

A Close-Knit Bond

The brothers have long been known for maintaining a private but supportive relationship. Akshaye has previously described their bond as "independent" of their family legacy, noting that as their immediate family circle has grown smaller over the years, they have only grown closer. ‘He Was Always in the Game’: Rakesh Bedi Says Akshaye Khanna Never Left Bollywood, Calls ‘Dhurandhar’ Success a Rare, Once-in-a-Lifetime Wave.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ To Be Bigger Than Its Predecessor

Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh's blockbuster Dhurandhar is getting a sequel titled Dhurandhar 2. The movie will arrive in the theatres on March 19, 2026 and will be released in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The movie is said to take the franchise to greater heights in terms of storytelling and visuals. Dhurandhar 2, touted as one of the most anticipated Indian film releases of 2026, will go head-to-head with Yash's Toxic.
