South Korea’s Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival 2019, Asia’s largest genre film event is almost here and the details of the film screenings have now been released. The ten-day film festival will run from June 27 through July 7. The festival opens with the Asian premiere of Edgar Nito’s “The Gasoline Thieves.” Also, Korean period mystery drama “The 12th Suspect” by Ko Myoung-sung will close the festival. The festival will be screening 288 films from 49 countriesCannes Film Festival 2019: Full List of Films Announced, No Indian Movie to be Screened this Year.

Among the Indian films that will be screened at the festival, we hear, four films including three Bollywood films have been chosen. These films will be screened in the World Fantastic Blue Section. As per industry expert, Ramesh Bala, the films that will be shown at the South Korean festival include, Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy and Ayushmann Khurrana's Andhadhun.

While Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy took Bollywood fans by a storm this February with the story of a rapper from the streets of Mumbai, last year's sleek crime thriller, Andhadhun which won a lot of praises for Ayushmann Khurrana has been a top choice for the film festival. Among South films, Vijay Sethupati's and Samantha Akkineni's much acclaimed Super Deluxe has also been chosen for the film festival.

It is indeed a great honour that these films will be screened at the South Korean film festival. Jury members for Bucheon Choice include Japanese director Kaneko Shusuke, journalist Jonathan Barkan, Korean actress Uhm Junghwa and Korean director E.oni (aka Lee Eon-hee).
