Raunaq Rajani's video opens with a direct and emotional statement regarding his wife's injury. "My wife's rib has been fractured because of the protests in Mumbai. It was fractured by a policeman," he stated unequivocally. He detailed that on July 22, 2026, he and his wife were participating in a protest at Shivaji Park when police began illegally detaining individuals.
"On 22nd July 2026, my wife and I were detained by the cops while they were illegally rounding up people at the Shivaji Park protest. You might have seen pictures of both of us in the cop van. They have shoved us in with brute force. I ended up having a sprain on my neck. She ended up having pain on her ribs," Rajani shared.
Initially, the couple downplayed their injuries, believing many others had endured worse police brutality during the nationwide protests. "We didn't make a big deal out of it because honestly, people have been through so much worse in terms of police brutality in the last week that we were like, fine, this is what it is," Rajani explained. However, when his wife's pain persisted for over two days, they consulted a doctor, who confirmed she had a fractured rib.

Rajani meticulously pieced together the sequence of events using various video sources. He explained that the confrontation began when he and Henna intervened after witnessing a "kid" being detained by the police. "Both of us were telling the cops that they do not have the right to do so," he recounted. He described a policeman in a khaki uniform pinning him to the ground, stating, "While we are out here filming the cops doing this shameful illegal activity, keep an eye on the man in khaki uniform coming towards me. So this is how he got me down."
The comedian then detailed his wife's forceful detention. He presented a clip showing a man in a red shirt, whom Rajani identified as a plainclothes officer, aggressively pushing his wife into a police van. Rajani emphasised the impropriety of the action, stating, "This was supposed to be done by a lady cop. He is using his entire body to shove her in." He also noted hearing a female officer attempting to intervene, saying "Madam ko nikalo" (Take the madam out), but the man in red persisted.

The most damning evidence, according to Rajani, came from footage inside the police vehicle. He alleged that the same khaki-uniformed officer who had pinned him down then kicked his wife. "Now, the same cop who pinned me to the ground, the one in khaki, he enters. Now, show this exact thing from inside the bus and then you will see how the man in khaki kicked my wife on the rib," he asserted, replaying the segment twice for clarity. Rajani added that he was holding his wife's hand to protect her during the commotion, but the policeman separated them.
Calls for Accountability and Police Silence
Concluding his impassioned video, Raunaq Rajani strongly condemned the alleged excessive force used by the Mumbai Police. "This nationwide protest has started only because the government has misused the police machinery and used it to beat up innocent protesters. And when we stood up for that exact cause in Mumbai, the police, instead of pulling back, tried to double down and do the same s*** on us," he declared. He further questioned the role of law enforcement, stating, "We don't pay our f*****g taxes so the police can beat us up! They are supposed to protect us!"
Rajani confirmed that he and Henna have filed a complaint at the Shivaji Park police station and are awaiting a call back to register a First Information Report (FIR).
