Netflix dropped a reality show about arranged marriages in India. Lazily titled, Indian Matchmaking, the show is about setting up prospective partners with each other in accordance with their caste, religion, family values (the list seems endless). It is nothing like, what only the true blue 90s kids would remember, Madhuri Dixit's Kahin Na Kahin Koi Hai. Indian Matchmaking has not only risen to enter the top 10 spots on the streamer, but has released a deluge of memes and jokes on the internet. Even Faye D'Souza has criticised the show on her social media pages. Netflix's Indian Matchmaking Funny Memes and Jokes Are The Only Best Match You'll Get Out Of This Cringe Reality Show.

The journalist wrote, "To young women watching #IndianMatchmaking ,

You don’t have to be “adjusting” “flexible” or “compromise". There are many wonderful, loving, supportive men/women in the world. Wait until you find the right one for you. This snake pit of patriarchy is not the whole truth."

Many Bollywood celebs cheered her on. Aahana Kumra (BetaalLipstick Under My Burkha), Mrunal Thakur (Super 30, Love Sonia), Rohit Roy (Kaabil, Shootout at Lokhandwala) and Zoya Akhtar (director, Gully Boy).

"Someone had to say it," wrote Aahana. Zoya wrote, "Absolutely." And so did Mrunal.  "You can’t really be commenting on this show Faye," wrote Rohit. Zoya Afroz (The Xposé) also agreed with Faye's words.

Pritish Nandy wrote, "Well, this must be the worst choice in men I have ever seen. Simi Aunty has a tough job ahead and has succeeded in fixing one marriage till now, Akshay’s— and he was possibly the stupidest of them all,"

But the show has not just received hate. Some have argued that Indian Matchmaking is misunderstood. "This snake pit of feminism is not the whole truth," one person responded to the Faye on Twitter. Indian Matchmaking: Where to Watch, Number of Episodes, Cast - All You Need to Know About the Netflix Show Featuring the New Viral Sensation Sima Taparia.

"Marriage is complex and it sucks you still only view arranged marriage in a binary though it seems to have worked better than an array of such systems. Keep an open mind, a Netflix show cannot be the basis of our assumptions or knowledge. It may not work for everyone, does not mean it doesn't work well," one user commented on Instagram.
