Television actor Rohit Chandel has been granted bail nearly two months after his arrest in a case involving allegations of harassment, stalking and physical assault of a 16-year-old actress. Chandel was arrested in July and booked under the Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Chandel’s brother Mohit Chandel confirmed the bail development in an exclusive interaction with Zoom/TellyTalk. He said the bail had been granted and that the remaining paperwork could take another day. According to Mohit, Rohit is expected to be released from jail soon. Mohit said Rohit was present in court when he received the news that his bail application had been accepted. He said the actor was happy after learning about the court’s decision and had thanked those who supported him.

Rohit was also aware that his television show Sairaab had gone off air. According to Mohit, the actor was saddened by the development but had spoken with the production team, who congratulated him after the bail decision.
What Is The Rohit Chandel POCSO Case?
Rohit Chandel was arrested following a complaint by his 16-year-old co-star. According to police statements cited in earlier reports, the minor alleged that Chandel repeatedly contacted her despite being blocked and had been pressuring her.
The complaint alleged that Chandel confronted the actress near her building, verbally abused her and physically assaulted her. Police subsequently arrested the actor and booked him under the POCSO Act and relevant BNS sections.
Following his arrest, Krishna Kaul replaced Chandel as the lead in Sairaab. The show, which also stars Madirakshi Mundle, premiered on Star Plus on June 2.
The allegations against Chandel remain allegations and have not been established as fact by a court.
