At least six people were killed and eight others critically injured on Thursday evening following a head-on collision between a passenger van and a truck on the Nanded-Bhokar highway in Maharashtra.

According to police officials, the incident occurred near the Sitakhande area around 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A shared Tata Magic taxi carrying passengers toward Bhokar was struck head-on by a speeding truck travelling in the opposite direction. Local residents and highway police rushed to the scene immediately after the crash. Emergency responders extracted eight passengers who sustained severe injuries and transferred them to nearby government hospitals in Nanded and Bhokar for emergency medical treatment. Medical authorities noted that several victims remain in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll could increase.

Law enforcement authorities have cordoned off the area and initiated the mandatory panchnama proceedings. Traffic on the Nanded-Bhokar route experienced temporary delays while officials worked to clear the wreckage.
