‘Jana Nayagan’ Makers To Replace Iconic ‘Thalapathy Vijay’ Title Card With THIS?
Thalapathy Vijay's final film 'Jana Nayagan' is poised for a unique title card change. The H Vinoth-directed political action thriller releases worldwide on July 24, 2026, after receiving an 'A' certificate from CBFC. The movie also stars Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde in key roles.
The countdown to Thalapathy Vijay's final cinematic outing, Jana Nayagan, has taken an unprecedented turn, with strong indications that the actor's iconic 'Thalapathy Vijay' title card will be replaced to acknowledge his new role as 'The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C Joseph Vijay'. This significant change reflects the star's recent momentous transition into the political arena. ‘Jana Nayagan’: Uncut Version of Vijay’s Farewell Film To Release in the UK on THIS Date; Distributor Shares Update.
No More Thalapathy Title Card for Vijay?
Speculation regarding the altered title card gained traction after KVN Productions, the film's production house, released a new poster announcing the censor clearance. Unlike previous films that prominently featured 'Thalapathy Vijay,' this poster credited him as 'The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C Joseph Vijay,' hinting at the impending on-screen modification.
According to a source from the South quoted by Bollywood Hungama, "Vijay's films have traditionally opened with a title card reading 'Thalapathy Vijay'. However, now that he has become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the makers have decided to acknowledge this development. Hence, the title card in Jana Nayagan is expected to read 'The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C Joseph Vijay'." This move comes after Vijay's political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), swept the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls in May 2026, leading to his appointment as Chief Minister.

‘Jana Nayagan’ CBFC Clearance and UK Release
The H Vinoth directorial has finally received an 'A' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on July 9, 2026, after a prolonged seven-month delay. The film was initially slated for a Pongal release on January 9, 2026, but faced numerous hurdles, including a censorship battle where the makers initially sought a U/A 16+ rating.
The CBFC mandated 12 changes, including the removal of visuals depicting the Indian national flag falling, muting or modifying all references to Vijay's political party TVK (including the dialogue "Ambedkar sattam...to...TVK sattam"), removing the phrase "New India" while explaining Operation Meluha, and the muting of certain cuss words and religious terms such as "Om," "Bhagavatham," "Ranganathar," and "Siluvaila."
Despite the cuts in India, Jana Nayagan is set to premiere globally on July 24, 2026. Notably, the film will be released in the United Kingdom as an "uncut, 15-rated" version through distributor Ahimsa Entertainment. The international release is already generating immense buzz, with advance bookings in the UK alone surpassing INR 1 crore.
