‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Sequel Update
According to an India Today report, Nag Ashwin has been diligently working on the sequel for some time and is now moving into a more consistent filming phase. "We're starting the shoot regularly from next month, and, hopefully, it should be done with the shoot by mid next year," Ashwin stated. This announcement comes on the heels of the first installment's significant triumph, including two prestigious honours at the 72nd National Film Awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Production Design.
Speaking about the success and motivation, Nag Ashwin emphasised the audience's response as the biggest validation. "I think the box office result was a validation, and kids coming up to me even two years after the release and saying they are eagerly waiting for Part 2 is the validation," he remarked. He also expressed pride in the National Award wins, particularly acknowledging the recognition for the film's production design.

Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C Aswini Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, it featured an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin, Prabhas as Bhairava, and Deepika Padukone as SUM-80 "Sumathi".
